After-work train commuters in Adelaide are facing a chaotic trip home after a person was hit on the tracks.

Adelaide Metro shared a post to social media announcing services on the Seaford train line had been suspended in both directions “due to an incident” near Marion.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 3.30pm, and SA Police confirmed there was a mental health matter ongoing.

Substitute buses are being brought in to operate between Brighton and Seaford.

A passenger told NCA NewsWire she had been asked to get off an earlier train to Seaford and told to wait for the substitute buses.

“I got of the 3:26pm train. It’s not 4:54pm. No buses yet.”

Two other passengers said they had been waiting for an hour and had not been told when the buses would come.

The first substitute buses arrived just after 5pm.
