As many millennials who grew up watching iCarly prepare for the big release, they are sad to find out that one main character will not be making a return. Unfortunately, Jennette McCurdy will not be taking on her role as delinquent, Sam Puckett.

Back in March, McCurdy revealed on her podcast, “Empty Inside,” that she won’t be returning to the show and has officially quit acting. McCurdy explained she really “resented” her life during her Nickelodeon days.

The former actress recalled some of her acting experiences as, “pointless and shallow.” “I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played. “I didn’t like the projects that I was a part of,” McCurdy explained.

For those who weren’t over the top iCarly fanatics back in the day, the show ran from 2007-2012 and followed a group of best friends – Carly (Miranda Cosgrove), Sam (Jennette McCurdy), and Freddie (Nathan Kress.)

The hit television series followed their lives, as they created a webcast for and about kids their age while grappling with everyday problems and adventures. During its initial run, iCarly became a pop-culture staple and regularly broke viewership records among audiences of all ages.

The 13-episode reboot season picks up nearly 10 years after the original show ended, and finds Carly Shay, the original influencer, and her friends navigating work, love, and their family in their twenties.

iCarly will make its return on June 17 on Paramount+
