We fell in love with them a lot longer ago than we actually care to admit, but that’s what makes the Gilmore Girls so amazing. Many of us grew up with them during the most crucial and difficult part of our childhoods; the teenage years. We got to see a relationship between a mother and a daughter that was a stellar combination of just enough arguing and just enough mother/daughter friendship that it made the rest of us want to strive for that. The show was amazing; almost wholesome, hilarious and one we looked forward to every single week. We really do need more shows like this now, but the good news is that the Gilmore Girls are coming back as a reboot and we cannot wait. We’ve decided that there are a few things we have to look forward to, and they’re the best!

Six Hours of Awesome

The bad news is that the show is not coming back with a full season worth of episodes. The good news is that the show is coming back with four new ‘event’ episodes that are 90-minutes long each. That means we get six gorgeous hours of amazing television with some of our favorite cast members ever in the history of primetime.

Melissa McCarthy

We know that she is like the biggest movie star in the world right now in her own right, and there was a lot of rumor that she would not be back for the revival. However, she has managed to see her schedule clear a bit to make time to film. She will be there; and she will be awesome. We are thrilled, and we are so happy that there was no bad blood because of it.

A Lot of Emotion

I know that not all cast members get along when they film a show, but this is a cast that did; and they are happy to have had the opportunity to work together again. There is going to be a lot of emotion in these four small episodes, but we’re not taking about the cast anymore. We’re talking about ourselves.

No More High School Stuff

While the original series focused a lot on high school drama both for Rory and Lorelai, this new series will not. This is all grown up and everyone made it to the world of adulthood. We are so excited to see them navigate the real world in a way very much like we navigate it today. It’s like we’ve all grown up together and we love that.

Mention of Richard Gilmore (played by Ed Herrmann)

Sadly, the patriarch of the family is no longer with us. Ed Herrmann passed away in 2014 and will not be part of the new series for that specific reason. However, he will be talked about and it will be a storyline on the new series. We cannot wait to see them mourn his loss in a way that we all did when the news broke two years ago.
